GRASSLANDS
MDF, papier-mâché, dirt, and static grass, 4.5 x 4.5 x 2 inches, 2022 - present
Miniature hills inspired by California’s grasslands.
The grassland ecosystem is a vital habitat native to the central valley. Though vital, it has endured extensive habitat loss, invasive species, pollution, and urban development. The original grasslands indigenous to California are virtually gone. Although changed immensely by human pressures, the ecosystem still remains a haven for nature and wilderness. With this in mind, Grasslands portrays these naturally minimalist landscapes.
On exhibition at the Grand Theatre Art Gallery, Tracy, CA (June - August, 2022).
